Now You See Me: Now You Don’t expands into a seven-character ensemble without doing the character work required to make an ensemble matter. The Avengers could stage that payoff because six earlier movies created investment; here, new magicians arrive without history, emotional weight or a world substantial enough to hold them. The plot is thin, the spectacle moves quickly and a few sequences work in the moment, so boredom never becomes the problem. Forgettability does. Wait for streaming, revisit the first film or watch The Prestige or The Illusionist instead—movies that understand a magic trick needs more than additional hands.

This wasn’t boring. This wasn’t good. The movie tries to scale itself into a big ensemble event, but that formula falls apart when you cram seven principal characters into a thin plot without any real character work or world building to make us care.
You can pull something like that off with the Avengers, because Marvel spent six movies and half a decade earning the payoff. Here, the new characters show up with no setup and no emotional weight. There is nothing to invest in, so nothing really lands the way it should.
All that said, I enjoyed it well enough in the moment. It has a few scenes that work and it moves quickly, but it is forgettable.
You should probably just wait to catch this one streaming. Or better yet just watch the first one again, or maybe just go watch the Prestige or the Illusionist.
