Everything's Going to Be Great review

Spoiler-free review

Everything’s Going to Be Great tries to carry too many ideas, relationships and emotional turns through too little screen time, leaving a script whose priorities I never understood. The younger brother is written with such persistent unpleasantness that I struggle to believe the filmmakers intended the audience to dislike him this completely, yet nothing meaningfully corrects that impression. A few laughs and scattered worthwhile moments keep the movie from becoming a total loss. It is watchable, but overstuffed storytelling turns nearly every promising element into something hurried or underdeveloped.

They were trying to do too much with this in too little time. I really don't understand the script here. I have a hard time believing the director and writer intended the younger brother to be so unlikable here. It was worth watching, a few laughs here and there.
