The Testament of Ann Lee review

By Joel Humphries ยท Watched 01.20.26

NOT RATED

Spoiler-free review

I am withholding a rating until my friends have seen The Testament of Ann Lee, but one urgent question cannot wait: why does Christopher Abbott keep accepting roles in which women will go to extraordinary lengths to avoid having sex with him? Founding a religion and presenting yourself as Jesus for the purpose is particularly bold, even by the standards of his unhappy dramatic history. ๐Ÿคฃ Consider this a placeholder rather than a verdict, although the recurring Abbott problem may already deserve its own scholarly field.

I will not rate this before my friends have had a chance to see it, so this is just a placeholder. But why does Christopher Abbott keep taking roles where women will go to any lengths to not have sex with him. ๐Ÿคฃ I mean starting your own religion and pretending that you're Jesus just to not have sex with Christopher Abbott is bold even given his sad dramatic history.
